Steps:

Synthesis of methylphenyldichlorosilane
A mixture of 12.22g (0.1mol) of PhMeSiH2, 53.8g (0.4mol) of anhydrous CuCl2, 1.32g (0.0069mol) of anhydrous CuI, 120g of ceramic spheres and 60mL of diethyl ether was stirred with a mechanical stirrer at 400rpm at room temperature for 3h. The mixture was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was distilled under reduced pressure to give PhMeSiCl2 (18.0g, 94.2%) as a colorless liquid. Bp. 69°C (980pa): 1H NMR: δ 1.06 [s, 1H, Si(CH3)], 7.46-7.77 [m, 5H, Si(C6H5)]. 13C NMR: δ 5.50 [s, 1C, Si(CH3)], 128.48, 131.75, 133.10, 133.37 [m, 6C, Si(C6H5)]. 29Si NMR: δ 17.88 [s, 1Si, PhMeSiCl2].
