b) Microwave Method: A mixture of adamantane-1-carboxylic acid (1 mmol),0.5 ml concentrated sulfuric acid in dry methanol was placedin a closed teflon vessel and irradiated by MW to achieve aconstant temperature of 130 °C for 12 min. Upon completionof the reaction (checked by TLC), the reaction mixture waspoured onto crushed ice to produce a white crystalline solidwhich was filtered, washed with cold water to yield quantitativelymethyl adamantane-1-carboxylate. The product wasidentical with that obtained in method a. Mp 37 °C, literature40°C [25].
