Steps:
teri-Butyl 2-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetate (18 mg, 0.071 mmol) was dissolved in CH2CI2 (3 mL) and cooled to 0 °C. Triethylsilane (28 μ, 0.18 mmol) was added, followed by trifluoroacetic acid (60 μ, 0.92 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at 0 °C for 3 h. The reaction mixture was dried under reduced pressure to give the title compound as a yellow oil (14 mg, 100%). NMR (400 MHz, CDCh) δ 6.73 (d, / = 2.3 Hz, 2 H), 6.48 (t, J = 2.01 Hz, 1 H), 3.86 (s, 6 H), 3.77 (s, 2 H).
