Synthese

Basic beryllium acetate (4 g.) is dissolved in 50 ml. of boiling glacial acetic acid and refluxed with 4-5 g. of acetyl chloride for a short time. The precipitate of Be(CH3COO)3 forming after a few minutes is filtered off, washed with glacial acetic acid and with cold chloroform, and dried in a vacuum desiccator. The yield is90-94%.
