Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Description]
One of a number of minor alkaloids isolated from Leontice albertii Rgl., this
base crystallizes from petroleum ether as colourless prisms. It is dextrorotatory
having a specific rotation of [α]D + 59.3° (c 1.3, EtOH) and yields a crystalline
methiodide, m.p. 249°C. The structure has been assigned on the basis of chemical
analysis and spectroscopic determinations. | [Uses]
(+)-Sophoridine acts as an anti-inflammatory agent in vitro and in vivo. Anticancer agent, with a promising anti-tumor effect and lower toxicity. | [References]
