Steps:

General procedure for the oxidative amidation of aldehydes with amine hydrochloride salts
General procedure: To a mixture of primary amine hydrochloride salt (1.2 mmol), CuFe₂O₄(10 mol %) and CaCO₃ (1.1 mmol) in acetonitrile (2 mL) were added aldehyde (1 mmol) and TBHP (70 wt % in H₂O, 1.1 mmol) under inert conditions at room temperature. The reaction vessel was capped and allowed to stir at room temperature 10 h. The catalyst was separated with an external magnet after completion of the reaction. The volatiles were removed under reduced pressure, and the crude product was purified by column chromatography on silica.
