Mixture of alloxan monohydrate (100 mg, 0.62 mmol), 4,5-dimethyl-1,2-phenylenediamine (85mg, 0.62 mmol) and p-toluenesulfonic acid (119 mg, 0.62 mmol) was placed in a stainless steelgrinding jar (10 mL) with one 12 mm stainless steel ball and milled for one hour at 30 Hz. Uponcompletion, the reaction mixture was washed with methanol and filtered. The product wasobtained as yellow solid (83 mg, 55%).
