Synthesis of Peralkylated Flavone Derivatives (7); General Procedure
General procedure: To a solution of the corresponding chalcone (6) in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO; 2-5 mL per 1.0 mmol) was added iodine (8 mol%) and the mixture was mildly refluxed until complete conversion (TLC). After completion, the mixture was poured into 10% aq. Na2S2O3 and stirred. The precipitate was collected by filtration, was washed with water and hexane. The crude product was recrystallized from ethanol-water (1:1) to yield the pure products.
