Subsequently, the reaction solution was diluted with 50 g of toluene, 50 g of water was added, and the mixture was thoroughly stirred, and then the aqueous layer and the oil layer were separated. The oil layer was further washed with 25 g of water, and the aqueous layer and the oil layer were separated. The solvent was distilled off from the oil layer under reduced pressure to obtain a yellow-brown solid 6.97 g (97% of the theoretical yield). When chemical purity was analyzed by HPLC using the above-mentioned method, the chemical purity of p-hydroxystyrene was 96.2% (area percentage).
