Abstract
o-Benzoquinone di-imine was obtained fairly stably in ether solution by oxidizing o-phenylenediamine with lead dioxide. The reaction of o-benzoquinone di-imine with o-phenylenediamine was studied spectrophotometrically, and o,o′-diaminoazobenzene and 1,4-dicyanobutadiene were found to be formed as the reaction products. The reaction scheme was discussed.
