Liver Disease drugs
This class of drugs are mainly used for the treatment of hepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy. For many liver diseases, especially viral hepatitis, there is no specific drug treatment. Certain essential amino acids or compounds participating in normal biochemical processes can only be used as the adjuvant drugs of liver disease, and their exact effect remains to be confirmed. As the normal human body don’t lack such substances, the abuse as a tonic will effect or increase the burden of liver metabolism. Currently believed, many viral hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis and sclerosing cholangitis may be related to the autoimmunity. Now people mostly think that the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy may be associated with the elevated blood ammonia or brain neurotransmitter abnormalities, for which the current clinical drugs for the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy mainly include the drugs reducing blood ammonia and the drugs correcting the central nervous system neurotransmitter disorders. With the further basic study of the substances promoting hepatocyte growth and their clinical application for hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver, these biological preparations have also become one part of the liver disease medications.
