Beschreibung
Present in Zanthoxylum nitidum (Lam.) DC., this alkaloid forms silky needles on
recrystallization from EtOH. The ultraviolet spectrum has absorption maxima at
251, 277, 320, 333 and 367 mil. It yields a hydrochloride as fine needles, m.p.
2l5-6°C (dec.) in an evacuated capillary; sulphate, m.p. 290-2°C (dec.) and the
methiodide as bright orange needles, m.p. 268°C. It contains two methoxyl
groups, a methylenedioxy group and a methylimino group.
