Verwenden

Polyester, a condensation polymer, can be produced by chainwise, acid-catalyzed ring openings of cyclic ester (lactone) without expulsion of small molecules, and also by stepwise polycondensation of ω-hydroxycarboxylic acid.

Definition

A synthetic polymer made by reacting alcohols with acids, so that the monomers are linked by the group –O–CO–. Synthetic fibers such as Dacron are polyesters.
