Beschreibung

A hepatotoxic alkaloid isolated from Senecio swaziensis Compton, the base yields clusters of colourless crystals from EtOH. It is strongly laevorotatory with [α]20D - 103.5° (c 1.0, EtOH). The ultraviolet spectrum in ethanol has a single broad absorption maximum at 195 mil.
