Biochem/physiol Actions
ACSBG2 (acyl-CoA synthetase bubblegum family member 2) gene encodes a peripheral membrane protein that belongs to ATP-dependent AMP-binding enzyme family and is predominantly expressed in adult testis. ACSBG2 facilitates the activation of long-chain fatty acids for both synthesis of cellular lipids and degradation through beta-oxidation as well as have increased ability to activate oleic and linoleic acid. It may also play a crucial role in spermatogenesis/testicular development.
