S-(-)-Dihydrozeatin Riboside can be synthesized and use for their cytokinin activity in 4 bioassay systems, the growth of tobacco callus, the seed germinaation of lettuce, the fresh wt. increase of excised radish cotyledons, and the retardation of chlorophyll degradation in radish cotyledons with the result of it being less active than their corresponding aglycons (R)-(+)- and (S)-(-)-dihydrozeatins [(R)-(+)- and (S)-(-)-6-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbutylamino)purines.
