3-Aminophthalhydrazide monosodium salt is used for chemiluminescence analysis of metal cations, blood and glucococorticoids. It is also in vivo to image myeloperoxidase activity. | [General Description]
Used for chemiluminescence analysis1,2 of, for example, metal cations,3 blood,4 and glucococorticoids.5 Luminol sodium salt has also been used in vivo to image myeloperoxidase activity.6 | [Biological Activity]
Luminol is a redox-sensitive chemiluminescent compound. It emits blue luminescence when the basic aqueous solution of luminol having oxygen atoms come in contact with oxidizing agents like potassium ferricyanide. It is highly stable and is applicable in various fields such as analytical chemistrymetallurgybiochemistryand forensics for detecting reactive species. Luminol has the potential to detect defects in neutrophils ex vivo during oxidative metabolism defects such as chronic granulomatous disease and myeloperoxidase deficiency. |
