Xylitol synthesis
- Product Name:Xylitol
- CAS Number:87-99-0
- Molecular formula:C5H12O5
- Molecular Weight:152.15
Less commonly employed methods of xylitol manufacture include the conversion of glucose (dextrose) to xylose followed by hydrogenation to xylitol, and the microbiological conversion of xylose to xylitol.

To 0.5 g of xylose in 40 ml of H20, HRO/Na-β catalyst (50 mg) was added in a reactorvessel. The reactor vessel was then heated at 120 °C for 10 mm under H2 pressure (20 bar). After completion of the reaction, the catalyst was separated by using centrifuge and theobtained clear product mixture was analyzed by UHPLC. The reaction gave 100% conversionof xylose with 100% yield of xylitol.
