4.2 Preparation of potassium phenoxide
A 25 mL flask was charged with freshly distilled phenol (2.9 g, 30 mmol), KOH (1.7 g, 30 mmol) and distilled water (10 mL). Solution was stirred at 24 °C for 0.5 h and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure to yield 3.9 g (98%) of KOPh.
