Steps:

Step 1. 3-Chloro-N-methyl-3-phenylpropan-1 -amine hydrochloride. (0306) To a solution of 3-(methylamino)-1 -phenylpropan-1 -ol (5 g, 30.3 mmol) in DCM (20 mL) at 0 °C, thionyl chloride (2.46 mL, 33.3 mmol) in DCM (7 mL) was added. The solution was allowed to reach r.t. and stirred for 2 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure to give the title compound as white solid (6.67 g, quant, yield).
