[0238] Step 1: 3-Trifluoromethylaniline (3 g, 0.0186 mol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (50 mL) and triethylamine (2.07 g, 0.0205 mol) was added. The reaction mixture was cooled to <10°C and chloroacetyl chloride (2.31 g, 0.0205 mol) was added, keeping the temperature below 10°C. After stirring for 2 hours at room temperature, saturated sodium bicarbonate solution was added and the mixture was shaken and separated. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and evaporated to give 2-chloro-N-(3- txifluoromethylphenyl)acetarnide which was used without further purification. Yield = approximately 97%.O
