Steps:

Synthesis of 1 -Adamantylsemicarbazide

1 -Adamantylisocyanate (10 g, 56.42 mmol) was refluxed for 2 h with an excess of hydrazine hydrate (15 g, 300 mmol) in ethanol (100 ml_). Water (200 ml_) was then added to the reaction mixture. The resultant precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with water and dried in vacuo to obtain 1 -adamantylsemicarbazide as a white solid (1 1 .5 g). Yield: 99%. ¹H NMR: δ ppm (DMSO-cf₆) 1 .61 (6H, t, 3*CH₂), 1 .87 (6H, d, 3xCH₂), 1 .99 (3H, m, 3xCH), 4.04 (2H, s, NH₂), 5.90 (1 H, s, NH), 6.88 (1 H, s, NH-N).
