EXAMPLE 14 250 g of benzylphosphonic acid were heated at 180°C, and phosgene was introduced for 4 hours. Subsequently the reaction mixture was degassed at 100°C in vacuo. Then the mixture was distilled. 293 g of benzylphosphonic acid dichloride were obtained, b.p. 103°C under 0.3 mm Hg; m.p. 60°-62°C, corresponding to a yield of 100 percent of the theory.
