After cooling to room temperature, it was acidified by adding 1 mol / L hydrochloric acid, and extracted with ethyl acetate, and washed once with brine. The organic phase was collected and concentrated in vacuo. The liquid mixture was dropped on a silica gel column and purified by column chromatography. As petroleum ether / ethyl acetate, the desired product 4-n-pentylbenzoic acid was obtained with a yield of 71%.
