A suspension of 4-chloro-6-methylpyridin-2-amine (284 mg, 2 mmol) in DMSO (10 mL) was added sodium methanolate (540 mg, 10 mmol), and the resulting mixture was then stirred for 18 hours at 140 °C. The reaction was filtered and the filtrate was purified via prep-HPLC to afford 4-methoxy-6-methylpyridin-2-amine (110 mg) as brown solid. MS ESI calcd. For C7H10N2O [M + H]+ 139, found 139.
