A solution of methyl 3- (4-aminophenyl) benzoate (15) (1.85g, 6. 8mmol) in ethyl acetate (lOOmL) was added a suspension of 10% palladium on charcoal (0.185g, 10% equiv.) in ethyl acetate (lOmL). The mixture was agitated under a hydrogen atmosphere (30psi) for 4 hours, then filtered through a celite pad.
