Reaction Conditions:

with disulfur dichloride in dichloromethane at 20; for 18 h;

Steps:

Disulfur dichloride (10 mL, 158 mmol) was added to a solution of 2- chloroacetonitrile (4.0 mL, 64 mmol) in CH₂Cl₂ (13 mL) at room temperature under an inert atmosphere of argon. The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 h. The precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with CH₂Cl₂ copiously, and then dried to afford 4,5-dichloro-l ,2,3-dithiazol-l-ium chloride (1 1.1 g, yield: 85%). MS (ESI) calcd for C₂Cl₃NS₂ (m/z): 208.52, found: 248.0 [M+K]⁺, 206.8 [M-2]
