Steps:
2.1.1. General Procedure for the Synthesis of Target Molecules.
General procedure: A mixture of 0.5 g of the appropriate isatin derivative, 30mLof 33% w/v aqueous potassium hydroxide, and equimolar amount of ketone was heated under reflux for 15-24 hours (the reaction progress was monitored by TLC using ethylacetate : hexane mixture (3 : 2) as a mobile phase). After that, the reaction mixture was cooled and diluted with water. The solution was neutralized with 1M hydrochloric acid. The precipitate was filtered, washed with water, dried, and recrystallized from ethanol (Scheme 1).
