10.0 g of 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4H-pyran-4-one and 16.4 g of potassium carbonate were added to 300 ml of acetonitrile.12.0 g of benzyl chloride was added, and the mixture was heated to reflux. After 5 hours, TLC ( petroleum ether: ethyl acetate = 1:1) was obtained.The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature, suction filtered, and the filter cake was washed with 100 ml of ethyl acetate, and the filtrate was directly dried.3-benzyloxy-2-methyl-4H-pyran-4-one 17.0 g was obtained in a yield: 99.4%.
