Intermediate compound 1: Ethyl 4-amino-3,5-dichlorobenzoate
To a suspension of 4-amino-3,5-dichlorobenzoic acid (5 g, 24.27 mmol) in EtOH (40 mL), thionyl chloride (3.17 mL, 43.7 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at 60 C for 18 h. Organic solvents were evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with water and extracted twice with EtOAc. The combined organic phases were dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to dryness, providing the title compound with quantitative yield. LC-MS (method 1): tR = 2.38 min; m/z= 232(MH+).
