5.A Alternative Preparation of a Compound of Formula I
A. Preparation of 2-chloroacetamidoxime: Hydroxylamine hydrochloride (85 g, 1.22 mol) in water (250 mL) was treated with sodium carbonate (60 g, 0.58 mol), and the solution cooled to 0° C. Chloroacetonitrile (100 g, 1.32 mol) was added over 2 hours, and the reaction allowed to proceed for an additional 2 hours. The resultant slurry was filtered, washed with minimal cold H2O, and dried to yield 2-chloroacetamidoxime (55.0 g, 42%).
