4, 5-DIFLUORO-2-NITROBENZOIC acid (447 mg, 2.2 mmol) was added to a suspension of 20% palladium hydroxide on carbon [50% (w/w) wet type, 40 mg] in methanol (10 ml), and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours under a hydrogen atmosphere. The catalyst was removed by filtration through celite, and the filtrate was concentrated to yield 4,5-difluoroanthranilic acid (380 mg, yield: 100%).
