General procedure for the preparation of compounds 1a-6c and 7
General procedure: p-Toluidine (1.07 g, 0.01 mol) or 4-[(phenylsulfonyl)amino]toluene (2.77 g, 0.01 mol) wasdissolved in CHCl3 and stirred for 5 min at RT. Nbromosuccinimide(NBS) (3.56 g, 0.02 mol) wasadded, and the reaction mixture was stirred for 0.5 hr.After filtration, the filtrate was concentrated, and themixture was purified by column chromatography.
