2.2 Stoichiometric oxidations
General procedure: [Fe^II (asN₄Py)(CH₃CN)](ClO₄)₂ complex (2.00×10^-3M) was dissolved in acetonitrile (1.5mL), then iodosobenzene (2.4×10^-3M) was added to the solution. The mixture was stirred for 40min then excess iodosobenzene was removed by filtration. Substrate (1.00×10^-2-4.00×10^-2M) was added to the solution and the reaction was monitored with UV-vis spectrophotometer at 705nm (ε=400M^-1cm^-1) (Table 1 ). The characterization of the product 4,4′-dihydroxy-3,3′,5,5′-tetra-tert-butylbiphenyl (H₂DPQ) based on previously described methods [6c].
