2 4.2. General procedure for the preparation of ionic liquids
General procedure: Equimolar amounts of γ-picoline and alkyl bromides (ethyl/butyl/octyl) were mixed and stirred for 24-30 h in the dark. A white coloured solid product was formed on completion of the reaction. The recovered product was found to be pure hence further purification was not necessary. The ILs obtained were found to be hygroscopic and stored in a desiccator. Yield: 100%.
