Reaction Conditions:

Stage #1:1,3-dibromo-5-chlorobenzene with isopropylmagnesium chloride at -25; for 16 h;Inert atmosphere;
Stage #2: with iodine at 20; for 17 h;Inert atmosphere;

Steps:

Preparation of compound of Formula 6
Under nitrogen atmosphere, iPrMgCl (30 mL, 39 mmol, 1.0509.) was added to a solution of 1 eq. i,3-dibromo-5-chlorbenzene (10 g, 37 mmol) cooled at -25 °C. The reaction was let get back to room temperature and stirred for 16 h. Elementary Iodine was then added in portions (10 g, 40,7 mmol, 1.1 eq.) under positive pressure of nitrogen. The reaction mixture was stirred 17 h at room temperature. Neutralization of the excess iodine was performed via addition of 20 mL sat. Na2S203 aqueous solution, then after addition of another 30 mL of water, THF was evaporated. Extraction with 250 mL Dichloromethane followed. After washing the organic layer with brine, filtering off insolubles, drying the organic layer on MgSCH, addition of lOOmL of cyclohexane and evaporation of the dichloromethane, was obtained 9.6 g (82 96) solid.
