EXAMPLE 13 Synthesis of 1-Allyl-5-hydroxymethylimidazole The title compound was obtained in the yield of 76% by employing 1-allyl-2-mercapto-5-hydroxymethylimidazole according to the substantially same procedure as Example 8 except that the residue was extracted with n-butanol instead of being filtered. 1H NMR (500 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 7.54 (1H, s), 6.79 (1H, s), 6.00 (1H, ddd, J1=20 Hz, J2=10 Hz, J3=5.5 Hz), 6.15 (1H, dd, J1=10 Hz, J2=1.35 Hz), 4.98 (1H, dd, J1=16.95 Hz, J2=1.35 Hz), 4.64 (2H, dd, J1=5.5 Hz, J2=1.35 Hz), 4.39 (2H, s); 13C NMR (125 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 138.47, 135.15, 132.19, 127.72, 117.37, 60.91, 47.07.
