1,5-Diphenylcarbazide can be used as a redox indicator for colorimetric determination of chromium, mercury, lead, and determination of dichromate. It can be obtained by reacting phenylhydrazine with urea. Phenylhydrazine and urea were added to xylene, the reaction was refluxed for 32 hours, left overnight. The mixtrue was purified to give 1,5-Diphenylcarbazide.
