Corosolic acid is a white amorphous powder (methanol), also known as plant insulin or 2 α - hydroxy ursolic acid. It is an extract of Barabba and Hibiscus fragrans, belonging to the alpha resin alcohol or Usane pentacyclic triterpenoid compounds. It is soluble in organic solvents such as petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform, and pyridine, insoluble in water, and soluble in hot ethanol and methanol.
