Corosolic acid is a white amorphous powder (methanol), soluble in petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform, pyridine and other organic solvents, insoluble in water, soluble in hot ethanol, methanol. In anhydrous conditions, color reactions or fluorescence may occur with strong acids (sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, perchloric acid), moderately strong acids (trichloroacetic acid) or Lewis acid (zinc chloride, aluminum chloride, antimony trichloride).

Corosolic acid is a pentacyclic triterpene compound of α-aromatic resin alcohol type or usane type, whose basic skeleton is a pentacyclic parent nucleus of multi-hydrogen pinene.
Corosolic acid can exist in plants free or in the form of saponins. In plants, it often co-exists with its isomer Hawkic acid (2α-hydroxyl oleanolic acid), which has similar structure and chemical properties and is difficult to separate.
