Trametinib effects and side effects
Dec 23,2022
Trametinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of an abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop the spread of cancer cells.
Uses of Trametinib
Trametinib is used alone or with another medicine (dabrafenib) to treat a type of skin cancer (melanoma). It is also used with dabrafenib to treat thyroid cancer and a type of lung cancer (non-small cell lung cancer - NSCLC). Trametinib works by slowing the growth of cancer cells.
Side effects of Trametinib
Dizziness, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, stomach pain, dry/itchy skin, acne, and dry mouth may occur after taking trametinib. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist right away. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugar-free) hard candy or ice cubes, chew (sugar-free) gum, drink water, or use a saliva substitute.
Mouth and throat pain or sores may also occur. Brush your teeth carefully/gently, avoid alcohol-based mouthwashes, and rinse your mouth often with cold water mixed with baking soda or salt. It is best to eat soft, moist foods.
Precautions of Trametinib
