This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.

The protein has a calculated MW of 47.7 kDa. The protein migrates as 50-63 kDa under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

神經(jīng)元五聚蛋白2（NPTX2），也稱為神經(jīng)元活動(dòng)調(diào)節(jié)五聚蛋白，是一種分泌型糖蛋白，其特征是環(huán)狀多聚體結(jié)構(gòu)。在體內(nèi)，NTPX2通過與跨膜蛋白神經(jīng)元筆曲毒素受體（NPTXR）結(jié)合發(fā)揮各種神經(jīng)作用。NPTX2被認(rèn)為在傳遞神經(jīng)遞質(zhì)和維持突觸可塑性方面起著至關(guān)重要的作用。它還參與了α-氨基-3-羥基-5-甲基-4-異惡唑丙酸（AMPA）型谷氨酸受體在已建立的突觸上的聚集，導(dǎo)致多巴胺能神經(jīng)細(xì)胞的非凋亡細(xì)胞死亡。帕金森病（PD）組織中該基因的上調(diào)表明該蛋白可能參與PD的病理過程。
