Aminoethoxyvinyl glycine (AVG) hydrochloride is a potent inhibitor of ethylene synthesis in plants thoμght to act at the level of 1-aminocyclopropanecarboxylic (ACC) synthase. It is thoμght that AVG is a fermentation metabolite that inhibits endogenous production of ethylene in plant tissues. Ethylene has been shown to affect plant processes such as fruit maturation, ripening and abcisssion.
