Thyopentin is a biologically active peptide mainly secreted by thymic cortex and medullary epithelial cells. It is a fragment peptide composed of five amino acids, retaining most of its biological functions, but with a short half-life. Thyopentin is an effective immune modulator with a very short plasma half life (30 seconds). Thyopentin can promote the production of T cell populations from human embryonic stem cells.
