| Disodium tartrate dihydrate Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | white crystalline powder | Uses | Sodium L-tartrate dibasic dihydrate may be used in the preparation of solid-state M–L compounds (M = bivalent metal ions ie., Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn; L = tartrate). It may also be used in the preparation of copper (II) and cobalt (II) tartrate complexes by reacting with the corresponding metal salts. These complexes can undergo thermal decomposition to form Cu and Co metal oxide nanoparticles. | Uses | Sodium salt of L-(+)-Tartaric Acid (T007630), a naturally occurring chemical compound found in berries, grapes and various wines. It provides antioxidant properties and contributes to the sour taste within these products. | Uses | Disodium tartrate dihydrate is used in standardization of Karl fischer reagent to determine trace ammount of water (less than 1%). | General Description | Sodium tartrate dihydrate is a solid standard with water content of 15.66% determined by the technique of loss on drying at 150°C. Its preparation from high-purity reagents and analysis is completed in an ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 accredited calibration laboratory. | Purification Methods | It crystallises from warm dilute aqueous NaOH on cooling.
