Pipecolic acid is a metabolite of lysine and an immunomodulator, which can induce systemic acquired resistance (SAR) in plants. Pipecolic acid inhibits ferroptosis in diabetic retinopathy through the YAP-GPX4 signaling pathway. Pipecolic acid can induce apoptosis in neuronal cells. In addition, Pipecolic acid can be used as a diagnostic marker for pyridoxin-dependent epilepsy[1][2][3][4][5].
