Procaterol hydrochloride is a selective intermediate-acting β2 adrenoreceptor agonist with an EC50 of 12.9 μM[1]. Procaterol hydrochloride can inhibit inflammation both in vivo and in vitro[2].

體外研究
(In Vitro)

Procaterol treat inflammation through inhibiting oxidative stress in vitro[2].
Procaterol (25-200 nM) increases the viability of 16HBE cells[2].

Cell Viability Assay[2]

Cell Line: The immortal human bronchial epithelial cell line (16HBE)
Concentration: 25-200 nM
Incubation Time: Pretreated for 20 hours
Result: Pretreatment elevated the cell viability rate in a dose-dependent manner. Pretreatment with Procaterol plus Dexamethasone could also significantly increase the cell viability rate, but the combined effect was not better than sole pretreatment with an identical dose of Procaterol.

(In Vivo)

Procaterol significantly increases conditioned stimulus (CS)-evoked freezing levels[3]. Propranolol-mediated blockade of β-adrenergic receptors (β-ARs) significantly reduces behavioral expression of Pavlovian threat conditioning (PTC), whereas systemic activation of β2-ARs using Procaterol enhances it[3].
Procaterol hydrochloride is freshly dissolved in 0.9% sterile saline immediately prior to injections[3].

Animal Model: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 250-275?g (~60-70 days old)[3]
Dosage: 300?μg/kg
Administration: Intraperitoneal (IP) injection
Result: Systemic injection of the specific β2-AR agonist procaterol (300?μg/kg) enhanced CS-elicited freezing during the expression test, with no effect during a drug free test.
