N⁴-Hydroxycytidine: A Potent and Selective Viral RNA-Dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) Inhibitor

N⁴-Hydroxycytidine (EIDD-1931), an antiviral ribonucleoside analog, is an active metabolite of molnupiravir which has activity against a number of RNA viruses.^1,2) The RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) is the key enzyme responsible for RNA virus replication processes and catalyzes the replication of RNA from an RNA template.³⁾ Because of this, they are often recognized as good targets for antiviral agents. It has been reported that N⁴-hydroxycytidine acts as a viral RdRp inhibitor of RNA viruses.^1,4,5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
