BCECF-AM
BCECF-AM is a fluorescent dye that can penetrate cell membranes. It is a commonly used fluorescent probe to detect intracellular pH[1].?
BCECF-AM has no fluorescence. After entering the cell, it is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterase to BCECF, and is left in the cell. BCECF can be excited to form green fluorescence at the appropriate pH[2]. Intracellular pH measurement is performed by ratio imaging, which is the ratio of the emission intensity (detected at 535 nm) of the dye when excited at 490 nm to 440 nm[1,3].?
BCECF-AM is not only widely used in the study of mammalian cells, but also has been reported for the detection of intracellular pH levels in animal tissues, plant cells, bacteria and yeast. BCECF AM is widely used in processes such as cytotoxicity, apoptosis, cell adhesion, drug resistance, and chemotaxis with changes in intracellular pH.?
