REVIEW Lufenuron, a benzoylurea pesticide, inhibits the production of chitin in larval fleas and is the active ingredient in veterinary flea control medicines. Without chitin, a larval flea will never develop an exoskeleton. Lufenuron is also used as a crop protection pesticide on plants such as soybeans and maize.
